My name is Anna Dymovska, and I am a lawyer with extensive experience working with documentation in a transport company. I specialize in legalization and regulations governing international freight transport. I have access to institutions that set the rules in this area. I assist individuals with obtaining documents that allow them to work as drivers in Europe or the CIS. Personal slogan: Your problems — our solution.
Situation Description: The client, an Indian citizen, sought assistance in obtaining a work permit for Poland. His goal was to legally work in the country, so he required not only a work permit but also supporting documents for further employment, including a work visa, medical and psycho-tests, as well as other certificates for performing professional duties. Given the nature of the profession, the client also required document preparation for obtaining a professional driver’s code 95 and a tachograph card for international transportation.
After successfully obtaining the work permit for him, it became the basis for applying for a work visa, which allowed him to stay in Poland for three years. Upon his arrival in Poland, we took care of obtaining the PESEL number, which is mandatory for all individuals staying in the country for more than three months and working legally.
Task for the lawyer:
- Obtaining the work visa: The first thing we did was arrange the work permit, which became the basis for applying for the work visa. The work permit process includes several stages: filling out an application, providing documents from the employer, and confirming the availability of a vacancy. After the permit was issued, we organized the submission of the work visa application to the Polish consulate, which allowed the client to obtain a three-year visa.
- Obtaining documents for legal work in Poland: When the client arrived in Poland, we helped him register in the PESEL system, which is necessary for legal residence and employment. PESEL in Poland is the equivalent of an ID number (INN) in Ukraine and is crucial for performing official activities in the country. Without this number, the client would not have been able to receive any official services, including medical care, payments, and other social services.
- Translating the driver's license and obtaining the professional driver’s code 95: One of the key steps was obtaining the professional driver’s code 95 for working in Poland, which allows drivers to legally work in international transportation. To do this, the client had to translate his driver’s license from a foreign language into Polish and undergo special training. Despite the training course being very short — only one week — all necessary procedures were carried out quickly and without delay. In addition, we arranged for psycho-tests and a medical commission, which were mandatory for obtaining this certificate.
- Obtaining medical and psycho-tests: Alongside the training for the driver’s code 95, we organized for the client to undergo medical examinations and psycho-tests. These examinations are mandatory for drivers engaged in international transportation and must confirm the driver's ability to perform their duties without posing a threat to themselves or other road users. After passing these procedures, the client received all the necessary medical certificates confirming his compliance with the requirements for working as a driver.
- Obtaining a tachograph card: The final stage was obtaining a tachograph card, without which a driver cannot work on international routes. The tachograph card is required for trips in vehicles equipped with a tachograph, which records driving time and helps ensure road safety. After successfully completing all the training and testing procedures, the client received the card and was able to start working on international routes.
Solutions and recommendations:
Fast and efficient document processing:
In our case, the main task was to organize the processing of all necessary documents as quickly as possible, as the training course and preparation for work were time-sensitive. Thanks to efficient planning and the clear execution of each stage, the client received all the documents without delays and was able to immediately start working on international transport routes. An important part of this process was the effective cooperation with Polish authorities, which allowed for the swift processing of documents without any difficulties.
Preparation for trips:
Once all the documents were processed, the client was ready for his first trip. Thanks to the well-organized process, he did not have to wait long and was able to quickly depart, knowing that all his documents were in order and complied with Polish legislation.
This case is a good example of a comprehensive approach to processing documents for a foreign worker wishing to work in Poland. From obtaining a work visa to receiving all the necessary certificates and cards for professional driver activities — each stage was carefully planned and executed. Thanks to our efforts, the client successfully started working in Poland without any delays or problems, demonstrating the effectiveness and professionalism of our work with international workers.
