Temporary residence permit based on family reunification is a legal official document called a Residence Card, which can be obtained by foreigners on the territory of the Republic of Poland.
The Residence Card is a document that confirms the identity, status, and right to legal residence in Poland, as well as other rights to its holder. It also provides the right to subsequently obtain permanent resident status and citizenship.
To obtain a Residence Card for a citizen of another state based on family reunification, it is possible under the condition of confirming family ties with the inviting party. In this case, the inviting person must undertake financial support obligations for the invited relative.

Who can obtain a Residence Card based on family reunification:

- Minor children, including adopted ones;

- Parents of a person under care;
- Parents and guardians of a child who is in Poland under temporary protection or refugee status.
Who can submit documents for family reunification:
- A person who has permanent residency in Poland;
- EU long-term resident;
- A person who has had a Residence Card issued for at least 1 year and has been officially in Poland for at least 2 years;
- A citizen of the Republic of Poland;
- Holder of the EU Blue Card;
- A refugee, who requires temporary protection or is in Poland for other humanitarian reasons.
The inviting party must have:
- Medical insurance;
- Permanent residence;
- Stable income amounting to 776 zł per person inviting, 600 zł for each additional family member.
Documents required for applying for a Residence Card based on family reunification:
- Original passport and copies of the applicant - 3 copies;
- Application form - 4 copies;
- Photos sized 3.5x4.5 cm, taken no later than 6 months before submitting the application - 4 copies;
- Receipt for the fee for the Residence Card;
- Confirmation of family ties - marriage certificate, birth certificate, adoption certificate, or document on taking guardianship over a person;
- Documents confirming legal residence in Poland of the inviting party.
Documents must be submitted as a package. In case of errors in filling out the form or discrepancies in the documents, or expiration of their terms, the inspector may contact you for clarification, or the issuance of the Residence Card may be delayed.
